A showcase for value engineering, the Annie Schaffer Senior Housing and Senior Center was built on a tight budget through winter months—a challenge for any construction team, especially a year with heavy snow accumulation.
Constructed of structural steel, pre-cast concrete plank and masonry walls, the building rests on the former Sealtest Ice Cream factory site. The construction managers faced several challenges of working on a slope in a tight urban space, but were able to open this building for the residents’ enjoyment on time.
